I'll admit it - when Conner's parents suggested that we do his cake smash on the floor, I was nervous. With every other cake smash I had photographed, the birthday child had been confined to their high chair. It was safe, predictable. As a photographer, I wasn't sure how it would go to have Conner on the floor. Would he crawl off, covered in frosting? I didn't say anything though - I smiled and said "Sure!" with as much enthusiasm as I could!
When Conner stuck his toes in the cake, I knew we had made the right call.
Birthday cake + fondant + floor + toddler toes = the perfect recipe for cake smashing.
